Very interesting testimony. Quite puzzling that he found himself sitting in his car with his dog after collapsing on the ground and being out of his body… I tend to believe that he saw nothing else than a marble tunnel or tube because he used to believe that there was nothing after death. Interesting also that, as an atheist (or agnostic), he didn't have at all a materialistic view of life… Thank you Mr. Disch.

Someone one day told me that the after death experience is an illusion brought about by the release of a group of biochemical substances called catecholesamines in the brain.
It is the reaction of these substances in the brain that cause the visual experience of elevation of mind or soul from the body. The experience is in nearly all cases, a very pleasant and enjoyable journey through tunnels and to places where you meet your loved ones. Some meet Jesus, some believe that death does not exist. Some are convinced theyhave seen god and communicated with god. Then they wake back up to conciousness and remember the whole experience as real as any other real thing they do.
