As an atheist living in the bible belt, a lot of what you say correlates to what I hear from the small town Christians that I encounter. Thanks for your content, it certainly gives me insight.
Just as long as you think critically about your spirituality. From being anti-vax, manifestation, clean living cures "all illness." the spiritual can be toxic Just like religious communities.
I have a particular skill: I can easily detect the spiritual prostitution and the effeminate seductive nature of a religious harlot. And this "former pastor for 30 years" has in mi vision a grotesquely evident appearance exactly of this. Yet it would be that it's not required a particular skill to note what is too obvious to anyone that is not blind.
Exactly! ״Have you actually read the Bible??!״ Because when you do, when you do, comparatively, that’s when it all begins to unravel. Contradictions and inaccuracies. Thanks and all the best.
After that long you never had any Mystical experiences or moments that made you feel like wow there’s something deeper here? Even just wondering awe, and the miraculousness of how perfect it all works here on the planet? No judgment just curiosity.. That must’ve felt like such a hollow life the entire time what was it that kept you going? Thank you for sharing. I went down a rabbit hole recently of listening to Moran again testimonials, and it really kind of freaked me out.
@13:30 "I'm spiritual but not religious" is really just code for being New Age – as you said, "the universe is god" and "the divine presence." That's not how the new testament uses the word "spiritual" – it's an eastern mystic misuse of an originally Christian term.
You introduce all your videos by claiming you were a genuine believer, but from your own admission you were a seeker sensitive pastor who played Bon Jovi during church services and who Kirk Cameron himself said was a superficial false teacher. That's a very deceptive opening for someone who claims he was a mainline evangelical. That's not at ALL mainline evangelical ecclesiastical orthopraxy. And for anyone who feels the need to respond to this with vitriol, Timmy is the one who called Kirk a "moron." He's bringing the vitriol. If you want to play with fire, you better be willing to take the heat of controversy without resorting to lame ad hominem attacks.
Since deconstructing I have found that there are so many layers to work through. We had so much crap beat into our heads so of course it will take time to repair ourselves. Thanks for the video. Glad to have someone who can relate to the insanity of evangelical Christianity lol
Interesting if you're spiritual How can this be, are you believing in something that you can't see. Hypocrisy you are in. Yes, we all are spiritual, every human has a spirit. You have made yourself separated from God and you are suffering from spiritual death. Remember our spirits live forever.
I respect your willingness to share your thoughts and the courage you showed to truly confront what and why we believe what we do. I was a Christian ‘believer’ too.
I found it frightening, at first, to challenge my own world view. After a few fundamental ideas were undone, everything seemed to unravel fairly quickly. Such a relief. The lectures and books/essays of Christopher Hitchens helped me a lot. There is so much more in the world. Religion had taken up so much mental and emotional space in my life.
The first step for me happened when someone close pointed out that basically I believed the following: God so loved the world, He had Himself nailed to a tree so He wouldn’t have to burn everyone forever.
That rocked me. I did believe that. The absurdity was so apparent, I was embarrassed. Years later, I am now very cautious about any all-explaining ideology — belief systems that explain everything and solve nothing.
For me, one of the most helpful passages today is: « Certainement, qui est en droit de vous rendre absurde est en droit de vous rendre injuste. » — Voltaire
(Rough translation: “Certainly, whoever can get you to believe absurd things can get you to do unjust things.”
Refreshing to hear someone acknowledge how f*cked up the Bible is. 😮💨 I read the whole Old Testament last year and it’s disgusting. I know Christianity is New Testament, but it’s the same god, so OT is relevant to the religion. And if I point out how vicious, violent, and sexual the OT & God are to any Christian who clearly hasn’t read the Bible, they’re like, “Oh, God’s different in the New Testament, he’s not like that.” While also denying God was ever a murderous, self-proclaimed ‘jealous & wrathful’ monster that told everyone to ‘do it’ & kill all day. If God can allegedly change his ways to be better in the NT… why can’t Christians? To claim to follow the religion of love & forgiveness while living the most disgustingly hateful, uneducated lives on the planet. And if they wanna say only the NT and the 10 commandments matter… then why are they quoting a single verse (taken out of context) from the OT about why they think they’re justified in being homophobic a-holes? Gosh it’s exhausting lol! Have a stellar week, all.
This great! I always say I don’t even know what “spiritual” means because we have no evidence for anything beyond our conciousness. We observe that’s it’s an emergent property of the brain, nothing more than that. A great video is on mind body dualism on Aron Ra. Super awesome video!!!!!❤️🌱✨💜
When I was a teenager my family expected the apocalypse to happen on September 6th 1994. Our bunker was stocked to survive the tribulation. I woke up on the 7th and still had to go to school. When I ask my mother why Judgment Day failed, she explained that it happened spiritually. This is a nonsense word. And because it can mean anything to anyone, it has no descriptive power.
I wonder if there is a better word for describing a non-physical connection to the world around us. One without religious baggage.
Hi Timmy I have a question regarding churches like Hill🎶🎼🎵🎤🎸. Their crowd doctrine and culture. My second question is about messianic Judaism. What is the best way to contact you ?
The idea is we're meant to be 'saved' so you need something to be saved from, so hell. If we were all going to heaven regardless anyway (unless we do something really bad) Jesus didn't need to die or do or say anything.
That's what New Agers say, you know, the ones who follow SPIRIT GUIDES that you don't believe in, and reads your future on Tarot cards, and does YOGA with Camel Toes!
There is truth in all religions but “spiritual not religious” is not always as shallow as you perceive. I’m spiritual because consciousness is spirit. The self is spirit. Jesus was a man who realized we are all God deep down and because he brought that message to religious leaders, he got resurrected. Plus he had a gang of disciples causing trouble for the powers that be. The great I Am is within each of us. We could be agnostic about it but I call this “higher self” God and interpret the Bible and other religions through that lense. Death is an illusion. We all die but spirit always lives. One day we will have the science to pressure t people from dna samples, the crazy scary God seems possible but the message underneath the religion is supposed to be about One love and harmony which we’re supposed to bring into this world but fail to do because we’re egotistical rather than spiritual. Being spiritual is not about the woo woo, it’s treating others as if they are yourself in a radical way. 🤷♂️
I consider myself spiritual not religious as well. But being spiritual has large range of practices and beliefs. I also love listening to Atheists. They help me to use and keep my common sense. And Christians are delulu. I don't listen to them 😂😂😂
I consider myself an outright kook actually 🙂 That is to say, I wanted to know what (god) was up to and wasn't gonna accept anything less… I would say I made a good call personally, I've had my questions answered, my project was … Greenlit I guess:/ I've received enough personal confirmation to have total confidence, the fear of death has become a quaint notion and when I asked for some financial help but not money I ended up with a bunch of gold, it needs to be refined mind you:/ I assume there is a lesson here and am happy to learn it. Good man! Jesus said a lot of pretty interesting stuff, not about sexual preferences so much no:/ Sure a lot easier to direct peoples attention away from whatever you are up to when you have a ready scapegoat:/ I believe in all of them, personally, I think there are (god)s out there who's names are forgotten but they are still out there. That's just me though, I like to have fun with it:) Seems to make em happy, go figure. The ocean is right there every time your heart beats and I know tidal waves but I respond gravity:/ Oh hey, Taurus here, happy b day! I get to see Poppy! for mine, it's very exciting I hope society doesn't collapse for a few months:/ o777 ps Neanderthals may not have had a Jesus but they helped their wounded heal from some crazy injuries, Im talking broken femurs, we found one, fully healed:/ also they had funerals even for their children and overall come across as the better species, probably hunted down by humans because we are jerks:(
That "spiritual" sense for me feels like a spark of wonder combined with a feeling of connectedness. I experience that sense but don't connect it to religion, god, jesus, buddha, allah, etc. I experience it from time to time and wonder if that's a universal feeling hard wired into us.
so now instead of "judging" the non-christian… you have decided to "judge" the christian? wow, what a brilliant hypocrite. you just can't leave people alone can you?
love yah man. Your honesty and humility should be a greater inspiration than your time preaching to your church. I wish they where open to benefitting from it. That's always the real shame.
I said goodbye to christianity about 15 years ago, but then started really studying NDE's and the afterlife. I definitely don't believe in the christian God, but I also definitely believe there is an afterlife and it is for everyone.

You mean Kirk Cameron.
Godless heathens and why shouldn't we be. We're intellectually free.
Were you in a colt or a cult?

If you have left your church how do you get income? What do you do to earn a living?
I was a non believer for 28 years. I am now a born again Christian! Praise God!
Kirk Cameron, "Bibleman"
You are grandpa age trying to look young and be relevant. You never found peace and it looks like you never will. I am sad just looking at you

I am not a slave to sin. I am not a slave to Jesus. This is the best freedom that I have ever known, freedom from religion. Hallelujah
you look like Sean Feucht
What happened to the church after you left?

What about a person who has literally experienced GOD and experienced that JESUS is real. Should that person tell GOD "Get away, you're not real"?

Another great video, Timmy! Actually, I watch your videos religiously but not spiritually.🤪🤪😁
Have you done a video on funerals, where it seems like everyone goes to heaven!

21:00 ,TRUTH.
"In hopes of his return, we congregate in prayer
A faith so strong it obscured us from the truth
Your cross was my enslaver
Nails that held me close
Your precious blood was shed
And I don't accept your pain
Monarch of deceit on a cross of hope and fear
Not a symbol of your sanctity
But a reminder of your defeat
As you were nailed and killed
So were we nailed to gold
We live upon your cross and bear this guilt for you" —- Nailed to Gold, Immolation
