Desire is said to be the root of all human suffering — yet how can we truly distinguish a desire from a need? In this gentle and thought-provoking Guru–Disciple conversation, a simple question unfolds into deep insight.
Through the story of a monk and his disciple who carry a bag of mangoes through the forest, the Master reveals how easily the mind turns need into greed, and comfort into bondage. The tale reminds us that caring for the body is not wrong — but when we seek endlessly beyond what is required, we lose our peace.
True freedom, the Guru explains, lies not in denying the body but in freeing ourselves from unnecessary cravings. The story of the mangoes becomes a mirror, reflecting how simplicity and awareness can lighten the journey of life.

You are doing great service through this channel. Thank you n i thank my self for finding these videos 🙏
Well, a per Ayurveda – cravings of certain tastes is the way the body speaks to us trying to restore the balance of doshas. So, in hot dry summer we want to eat a sweet and juicy fruit wich helps us to coold down and maintain the lproper level of bodily liquids and in cold, windy dry winter we crave for a hot, spicy dhal and rice with ghee So they are not just desires they are a very important mechanism of regulation and maintaining physiological functions of our body. So, concluding if you crave for sweet taste – it most likely is body language ( though there some explanation s to the rule) but if u do want only a gulab jamun to satisfy it – it is the desire coming from the mind.
Thank you for video!🙏
What is essential behind actions of need vs desire is the motive. To make the body and life fit for sadhana is a need, to drain the body and agitate the mind is desire.
The ultimate wisdom…❤❤❤❤❤❤

The differentiation between "need" and "want" is not a higher order understanding. He who "wants" does not do so under the guise of "need". The ego places itself knowingly in this position as the demander, the architect and reaper of the request. This is enough for this soul and it is neither better nor worse for it and they seek not your counsel.
Perhaps worse off, is those who identify with a life of subjugation by quest of need, bereft of the ability to recognise the supernatural, and explore the senses under an obedient mind.
They live out life reprimanding the senses without wisdom which is akin to an undisciplined, hysterical toddler wacking its parent for being denied ice cream. You will recognise them as the saint or the suffering in one scenario and continue to see them as such in their business dealings with you by leaning on the false disposition that they have fabricated for self gain.
A true saint is a seeker… a true begger is a wanderer. Neither impose themselves onto you. It is you that seek them out… always.
Enabling misfortune of the misguided is a sin in itself…
❤
Thank you
6;30: ''Fulfilling the need nourishes life, but feeding desire only increases burden.
6:48: ''Needs are like gentle ripples on the lake of the mind – they rise and settle easily. Desires are like storms – they disturb the whole lake and cloud the reflection of Truth.''
7:54: ''The wise live lightly – carrying only what is needed for the journey.''
8:07: ''Needs support life; desires drain it.

Very simple story but stays in the mind for long ❤
N stands for need and nourishment D stands for desire and drain . Need nourish you and desire drains you and your energy
