He knew too little about Buddhism and simplified it too much. Buddha never said to remove the desire in that sense. In Buddhism it is clear that there is the 'white' type and 'black' type of desires. Buddha knew very well you cannot not have desires. Otherwise how would you even WANT to become a monk? How would you even WANT to practice meditation? How would you even WANT to end the cycle of suffering? These are some of the very basic things that Christians may have overlooked that Buddha knew Way beyond this already.

Let me tell you, Buddha also talked about the perspective. Buddha didn't say that every desire is bad, but he said that we should be mindful about our desires and we should not let desires control us. He didn't say that we should cut off desires completely. He said we should be mindful about desires, we should distinguish between good and the bad desires.

All the great teachers are lessons of god we must learn wisely. Buddha was a brilliant one. Jesus was the greatest lesson He taught us and continues to save us. Because we’re all in hell even if most don’t realize it and this reality is infinite but they (Satan, a concious collective) want all of us to reincarnate back and worship all there gods like Amen who was an Egyptian god.
