so you are a skeptic …NDE people quite proved that there is not only God but that you are limitless in afterlife..

This is why I’m agnostic not an atheist
When I was younger I believed in Jesus, God, the bible and the whole thing. Then when I got to university I started questioning the whole bible and it seemed nonsensical to me therefore I started to disbelieve in God, Jesus and even the afterlife. But now, I think, why should I disbelieve in a divine intelligence just because I'm disillusioned about religion? Maybe many religions a poor advocate for the devine or god? I think this is the mistake a lot of athiests make. Maybe it's the case that many religions have been a poor representative of what god or the devine represents then they base their reasoning on this fact. I think it's entirely possible that the brain is not the producer of consciousness but rather the filter or reducing valve to reduce consciousness down to a slither of what it's capable of. Maybe when our physical brain dies we are liberated from the constraints of the limitations of the brain to experience full conscious awareness?!?!

He said he's still an athiest but willing to admit he maybe wrong about the afterlife. Wouldn't that qualify him as an agnostic?

To those saying he’s technically agnostic: he has now expressed that he sees belief in god and belief in an afterlife as two separate subjects, whereas before he thought they were inseparably connected. He remains an atheist, since that refers specifically to his lack of belief in a god. Agnosticism, on the other hand, is about knowledge, not belief. If he thinks the afterlife is unknowable, then he is agnostic only about the afterlife. It’s important to note you can be an agnostic theist or an agnostic atheist; he (and personally I as well) fall into the latter category.
In Islam, life is understood to occur in a series of distinct stages, each serving a purpose in the journey of the soul. These stages are described in the Qur'an and Hadith, providing a clear framework of human existence — from before birth to the eternal afterlife. Here's an explanation of each stage:

1. The Realm of Souls
This is the pre-earthly stage where all human souls were created by Allah. According to a verse in the Qur'an (Surah Al-A'raf 7:172), Allah gathered all souls and made them testify:
> "Am I not your Lord?"
They replied: "Yes, You are."
At this point, souls were aware of their Creator before being sent into the world.

2. The Realm of the Womb
This is the stage of physical formation in the mother's womb. According to Hadith (Sahih Muslim), after about 120 days of conception, an angel breathes the soul into the fetus, and four things are written:
Its provision (rizq),
Its lifespan,
Its deeds,
Whether it will be happy (in Paradise) or miserable (in Hell).
This stage bridges the soul realm and earthly life.

These are written by the angel based on what Allah informs them. However, Allah knows the "final version" — including any future changes that may result from sincere repentance, duʿā, good deeds, or sins.
Islam teaches that while everything is known to Allah, this does not mean that human actions are forced. Allah has complete and perfect knowledge of what each person will choose using their free will. These decisions are real, and individuals are responsible for them.
This shows that Allah has the power to change or confirm matters — yet everything remains within His perfect and eternal knowledge.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
> “Nothing increases one’s lifespan except righteousness (birr), and nothing repels divine decree except duʿā.”
— Hadith (Ahmad, Tirmidhi – Hasan)

3. The Earthly Realm (Dunyā – The Life of This World)
This is the test phase, where humans are given free will to choose between right and wrong. It's a temporary stage where people are accountable for their beliefs and actions. The Qur'an says:
> "He who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed."
— Surah Al-Mulk 67:2
This life is filled with trials, and success here depends on obedience to Allah and living righteously.

4. The Barzakh (Interim Realm after Death)
When a person dies, their journey continues in the realm of Barzakh— a stage that lies between death and the Day of Resurrection. The Day of Resurrection will only begin after the universe comes to an end. In this period, souls are shown a reflection of what awaits them, receiving peace if they were righteous, or punishment if they lived in sin.

5. The Hereafter (Ākhirah – Eternal Life: Heaven or Hell)
This is the final and eternal stage. After resurrection and judgment, every soul will be sent to:
Paradise (Jannah) – for those who believed in Allah, followed His guidance, and lived righteously.
Hellfire – for those who rejected faith, disobeyed Allah, and led others astray.
The Qur’an describes this stage as:
> "They will abide therein forever."
— Surah An-Nisa 4:57 (about Paradise),
— Surah Al-Baqarah 2:39 (about Hell)

God Almighty sent messengers to tell us how to live life and what we must do and not do
Nothing is different from absolute nothingness
Nothing can come from absolute nothingness
So we have to conclude that either the universe is eternal or that there is an eternal conscious creator
Why an eternal creator? "Fine-tuning"
Now, according to natural laws, nothing can derive from absolute nothingness, thus making the existence of a universe logically implausible
Now, we're left with no choice but to accept the remaining option.

So the man who doesn’t believe in God was heading towards complete blackness during death…makes sense
70,000 yrs of absolutely true gods being replaced by the next absolutely true gods is a big giant in your face hint that absolutely nobody knows.
What lunacy makes people believe they deserve an eternal existence ? But, not only an eternal existence but the one they believe exists ? Which means a lot of people are going be seriously disappointed.
“I don’t know” isn’t noble. It’s I don’t believe and don’t care enough to read the Bible and try. What actually hurts you from trying? That you won’t be able to do things that harm you? Sin harms not just your spirit but life and body as well

If nothing happens after life,why can't I end things myself? If it's all pointless the world only had me for a few decades to no consequence, why does everyone clutch pearls when someone shortens their existence? I didn't matter before I was born and won't matter after I'm gone, so what's the point?
Surah Al-Jumu'ah (62:8): "Say, 'Indeed, the death from which you flee – indeed, it will meet you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you about what you used to do'".

Well… the act of understanding itself was evolved to deal with the future, so when death comes and there's no longer a future, the capacity to understand death would've had no utility to be naturally selected…. thus it was never selected.
It’s like a tool evolved for what comes next being applied where there is no next at all.
Technically, dude became an agnostic. None of us can possibly know yet.
So should we redefine the category?
Like most people, Atheist or Not, he's reaching the age in which he knows that time isn't on he's side now, and so he is now more concerned and maybe a little worried that he may be correct in he's subconsciounce that there is No afterlife, and so just eternal nothing is waiting for him. I myself, have never had an opinion either way about what happens after death. But I must admit that at now aged 65 with the Grim Reaper ticking the days away, I would like to believe that something magical awaits me when the time comes.
Buddha explained that 2500 years ago in a kind of complex way, rebirth, even our physical body dies,(all of it), there's still something that keeps going on and on, till we wake up to reality
One minute he is nicely arrogant enough to think his summation softens his atheism beliefs and then defends that belief with saying it is because “we” aren’t smart enough to know how to prove belief.
