There are many people who claim to be spiritual but not religious in our world. I used to be like this, but now I see how important both are.

I can confidently say that I would not have continued walking in the faith without the Church. The Church is an absolute necessity and available to all who are humble enough to admit they cannot live out their faith by themselves. "Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." – James 1:27. Thank you for the encouraging words.
The VAST amount of new age spiritualist that were former "Christians" come from RCC.
Beautifully said and how I have been feeling this deep in my heart the last year.
God made us social animals.
Hi Fr. Casey, I love your approach to this and can relate to your experience in your teenage years. I also believe that a spiritual person will inevitably face God and thereby embrace or reject religion. Who can resist the love of God?
Keep up your good work!
I've been following you for a while and thank you for what you do.
I'd only ask you'd being back the older brother and react to Free Guy if you haven't yet.
Stay safe and well.

The real question is: are you a real Christian or not? I think there are people whose lives are more similar to Christ’s than many of the so called religious people.
both
I'm both, and searching for a church. I enjoy your videos about Catholicism.

I rather be Godly!
Such a young, sympathetic and… lacking life experience priest! I’d give him a hug.
But… I don’t consider myself “spiritual”, and I don’t find a reason to be “religious”.
I simply know God, because God wants me to know Him. And I can’t find a single atom in His Creation where He’s not present so I to “seek” for Him. But I guess that’s because my life experience was very different from the one this sympathetic young man had.
God knows…
The term "Spirituality" is more nuanced. It can be seen as an intermediate between religious and atheistic perspectives for several reasons. Spirituality often emphasizes personal experiences and individual paths to meaning, which can be less rigid than the structured doctrines of organized religion. Spirituality can be more flexible. It can encompass a range of beliefs and practices, from meditation and mindfulness to belief in a higher power or universal energy. This inclusivity can attract individuals who are uncomfortable with atheism's rejection of all supernatural elements but do not align with a particular religion. It bridges the gap. Spirituality can act as a bridge for those transitioning from religious backgrounds to more secular views or vice versa. It allows individuals to retain a sense of connection and purpose without fully committing to atheism or traditional religious frameworks. Fear can play a significant role in shaping people's choice of spirituality over more rigid frameworks like religion or atheism. Opting for spirituality instead of religion or atheism is akin to a closeted gay individual identifying as bisexual rather than openly gay, due to greater acceptance and reduced stigma. Both spirituality and bisexuality are often more palatable to mainstream society.
Well done.
The Bible should be what unite us.
The word religious sadly has been tied to the word bigotry. And when you live in a, go along to get along society.. Saying you’re spiritual is easier accepted
Thank Father great video
In other words, and correct me if I am wrong Fr. Casey, your religion gives structure to your spirituality.
I grew up on the Autism Spectrum (Asburgers syndrome) I hated going to church, I'm still trying to figure out why. May have been from overstimulation or sensory overload. My aunt had to force me to go. One time I was being extra stubborn one sunday morning and told her "No" When she told me to get into the car. She got so mad she threw a shoe at me. Yes that got into the car. Anyway, as the years went on I was in and out of church, I moved out at 27, lived an immoral life, took part in witchcraft and was demonically attacked in a dream. One day I felt God calling me back. After realizing I still wanted a Catholic wedding and that I deserved better I broke up with my then boyfriend(which was a year ago in July) And I have been attending mass every Sunday since August of 2023. I started dressing modestly to mass and I also want to start veiling as well and have asked my grandmother for one. I also pray the rosary daily.
For me religon is the instructions I need and the spirituality just randomly came one day. I'm 30, kinda weird it took this long. 🤣🤣
What did Jesus say about Church, in the Bible? Because u are contradicting what I read.
OMNI-Dimensional ! I heard that term the other day and loved the hell right out of it 😊
1:05 aahh, "normal teenage boy things"
Great teaching!
When I went to Catholic Church as a child, they spoke Latin, so I spent the time judging all the lady's hats. Yes, this was in the early 60's. I had a red felt robin hood type hat with a long feather and I would put my head back so the feather would bother the person behind me. Now I am trying to go back to the tradition that I missed. Can't wait to meet Friar Mike this Sunday without my hat.
Such a great message I have to watch again.
If you ever thought you had no impact, I am here to tell you that you have confirmed the guidance I am sensing to go to the Franciscan Parish in Hartford. Your explanation of spirituality vs religion and how this works together and how we need both has touched my soul deeply.
The Holy Spirit is not a system of theology – a system of theology cannot make the connections and the impact of the revelation that can only be brought out by the Holy Spirit – I can't get sidetracked by those who will not step into it – neither did Jesus when he was on the Earth –
Kingdom of Heaven is here NOW
Your descriptions of your teenage spirituality sound very much like modern nondenominational protestantism.
Thank you for a very important video. I considered myself spiritual but not religious. In fact, I often felt that religion interfered with spirituality. Impeded it and tried to smother it! Like the Pharisees of old more interested in the Law than the love of God and neighbor and all the beautiful mysteries of existence. This suspicion only grew worse as the American Church increasingly became a political brand and not the caring community you describe. Your video is compelling though so I will try again. I suspect you are right or at least could be right.
God bless us, everyone.
I'm 46 and I decided to return to the church and have been torn between spirituality and religion but I couldn't pinpoint it. This video helped me put into words what I'm going through and you're right, 4:20 I'm not the first person to question things and know better than all those who have gone before me for the past 2k years! Thank you 🙏🏽
You are really one of a kind, I’m really struggling and having doubts in this momment, watching videos and reading from people of the church who just drive me apart even more. And then by your videos a light get into things, they show up exactly when needed. Here I am struggling with a specific question, and right in that moment shows up a video of yours answering it kindly and clearly. I was getting into video of religious afraid of hearing things that would point me out as lost and miserable, and I am always expecting something that confirms my view, or that destroys me completely, your video does neither, I get a completely new and unexpected grasps of the matter in a way that make me more happy then if I heard exactly what I wanted. Thank you very much and god bless you.
Ahhh … Your city isn't demon possessed…I have visited several churches and they are not Godly
Religion is spirituality with teeth.
