Why are Black people still Christian?

Why are Black people still Christian?

If God exists, why does he allow Black people to suffer the way that they do. For starters, Christianity has been used a brutal tool of oppression against Black folks for as long as this country has existed. Outside of the US, Christianity and the Bible motivated colonizers to commit some of the worst atrocities the planet has ever seen.

The track record of this religion is clear and it isn’t looking great. So why did Black people, when surveyed by the Pew Research Center, identify as Christians at nearly 80%? Significantly more than their non-Black peers.

That’s what I want to talk about in this video. I spoke to a Black woman pastor who sees herself represented in Jesus as well as a Black professor who identifies as atheist and sees no evidence of a God interested in the oppressed.” At the end, I wrestle with my own journey around faith. I hope you enjoy

  1. "No other people group has been this oppressed." Stop, there are people in Ukraine going through more than any dark person in America. Nigeria is struggling, but again, that's a country. Are dark people in the UK going through getting their churches burned down weekly… by other dark people? No. This victim complex is silly.

  2. The practice of religion is whats evil. Not God. Not Jesus. Tbh to ME it makes sense that people would follow the
Bible because it literally shows you how to survive in a world that actively tries to destroy who you are. The CORE of the bible. Is Good and is a guide to life.

  3. You know what amazes me that people don’t do they research much about Christianity and would like to talk shit about it, but did you know that Ethiopians believed in Christ thousand years before white Europeans touched Africa before the slave trade they believed in Christ Christianity in Jesus before 1000 years before white people touch Africa just sayin

  4. I just don't see what you get out of religion if your god isn't all powerful and can do nothing about the suffering of so many. its not just about how white people bastardized Christianity, its all religion. Every religion has gods that no one has any evidence of, can't return today or if they can, mysteriously havent for hundreds or thousands of years. if there were a god, any god, they must not be too concerned with life on earth because it doesn't matter how much of it is erased, nothing omnipotent is done about it. For christianity in particular, it wasn't just for black people that they changed (how they taught) the bible. The bible was written by several people over hundreds of years and agreed upon, there were parts that were written that were left out, there are parts in it that may not be actual words and teachings of God, religion like everything else about us is a man made construction. its a tool. For survival. For control.

  5. The problem with our people being stuck in religion and not understanding that we are spiritual is what causes them to be in the mess that we are in. The curses of Deuteronomy 28 is what is shown to be the case for us as a people. Of course there are some of us who are out of the curses due to walking in righteousness and following the Most High’s ways. Deuteronomy 28 is the answer as to why we are oppressed as a people. Our ancestors rejected to follow the laws and commandments of the Most High and were punished. It’s not the reason that the Most High is against so called black people. Our people need to understand that religion and spirituality is not the same. Religion is man made and has nothing to do with us. Spirituality which is from what the Scriptures (the Bible) teach is what we should go by. The Scriptures is not a religious nor Christian book. It is a Hebrew book which is our history book. If we repent and turn from our wicked ways, then the Most High can do a work in us. If we choose with our free will to continue in sin and worship gods and idols that are not the Creator of all things, then we reap what we sow. It’s that simple. The Creator of all things is not a religious one but is of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Come out of her my people 🗣️

“They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, And consulted against thy hidden ones. They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; That the name of YAHshar’AL (Israel) may be no more in remembrance. For they have consulted together with one consent: They are confederate against thee:”
    ‭‭Psalm‬ ‭83‬:‭3‬-‭5‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“if my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
    ‭‭2 Chronicles‬ ‭7‬:‭14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

We are not canaanites, amalakites, etc. Those are from Ham. We are Shemitic. Of course not all who have so called black skin are Shemitic. But those who went through the slave trades and captivities mentioned in Scripture is a Hebrew from the 12 tribes. The higher ups and them know who we are fr and even those other nations know who we are.

  6. This is what the biblical Messiah said to black people the last time he had seen them when he was on the earth; John 5:43 KJV , he said, –

"if you don't receive me and I come in My father's name, you will receive him that comes in his own name".

The Messiah was telling them that their failure to believe him will cause them to believe another false version of him when they go into captivity to their enemies.

They did get captured by their enemies(70 AD siege of Jerusalem Psalm 83:1-12 KJV and psalm 137 KJV) and when they settled in the land of their captivity , they became Christians and they learned to call on the Christians god aka Jesus( Hosea 2:16 KJV and Revelations 3:12 KJV. They even became teachers and prophets of their captives religion(EZEKIAL 34:1-6 and Jer 5:26-31 KJV) a religion that God calls Heathen(Jeremiah 10:1-5 KJV) because of the cyclical rudiments it does every year , one of them with a decorated tree every end of the year.

  7. 7:55 Saying one execution was “the worst in all history” oversimplifies things. The crucifixion of Jesus Christ was undeniably brutal, but many societies have carried out extremely cruel punishments.

  8. Religion and the persecution of black people has nothing to do with God. God is a construct created to rule us not anything based in fact, the question should be why do the other races hate black people.

  9. Slavery was the worst thing that ever happen to black Americans if he was real he would came back during the worst time for black and brown people don't ya think !? Like I said it's literally brainwashing mechanism

  10. what was the first ship for slavery called ? The first English ship involved in the transatlantic slave trade was the Jesus of Lübeck, often referred to as "The Good Ship Jesus. search it up

  11. so the argument about christianity being in Africa before Europe, which is false because Christianity was created by a Turkish man Paul the apostle. At the time, turkey was occupied by the Roman Empire so for her to bring up the point that Ethiopia is a Christian country doesn’t have no standing.

  12. I’ve always wondered this, but I didn’t want to seem racist somehow by actually asking anyone. Religion is used by colonizers to restrict the liberties of the colonized. In fact, religion is used as a tool to control the masses. That’s all it is. Tricking people into surrendering their liberty.

  13. Same questions I have as a Filipino. And damn, Filipinos are so freaking religious! We're even worse than the people who brought it here, and used it to get away with wtf they were doing to us. How they rebranded our own religions, cultures, and beliefs, even twisted our folklores to use it against us. And now, years after being colonized for over 300 years, we are colorists and hypocrites because of this damn religion. I hate it here lol

  14. Bad people use what is good for evil. No news there. It doesn't change the truth that Jesus is the Lord over all. As Paul says in Galatains: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

  15. The ways Christianity has been exploited by humans for selfish purposes doesn't actually bear any effect on the odds it is true or false as a religion. In the same way that if Christians through history had acted blamelessly it wouldn't make Christianity true, each person should still examine the religion on its own merit rather than through the lens of the way people have used it in their favor.

  16. I am sure you're familiar with the oppresed darker skin tone people of India [see Dr. B.R. Ambedkar (1891–1956): Known as the father of the Indian Constitution, he was a Dalit leader in the fight against caste discrimination, when they were excluded, by Gandhi, from the freedom of the New Constitution.] After their exclusion they left the religious system that excluded them and became Buddhists. Something to think about. Parenthetically, Dr. King met Ambedkar when he was studying in the USA.

  17. I don't know why anyone is a Christian. Christianity was introduced to large portions of the world at the point of a sword or gun…Convert or die.

  18. Yeah and you can make the same points about islam. But did the people who wrote the bible know anything about Africa? I guess Islam knew more about them

  19. There's no problem with Jesus, it's the people that's the problem. God created us all equal yet some people as childish n foolish as it is think that skin color matters, skin color is something ppl can't control n it has no significance to there character. Yet ppl still feed into propaganda, get easily manipulated n fooled into thinking it does. The truth is one day all the racists are gonna answer to God. 🤔 How can u hate what u know nothing about?

  20. I can understand the suffering of black people in America, but black people in Africa? we are just wicked and selfish to each other. we hate ourselves and do not want to put in the work to uplift ourselves

  21. My mom is a Christian, but she also knows science, and she's conscious of a lot of things. But, like all of my family, they have prayed to this so-called all-powerful God thousands of times, and none of their prayers were answered. My mom just wishes he would bless her with a house or lots of money. One of my aunts is dying of cancer, and she is wondering why he hasn't healed or ended her suffering. All of their progress and decisions go to God. We have free will from God, but he has a set path for us anyway.

  22. A heavily redacted version of the Bible, known as the "Slave Bible," was created in 1807 for use in the British West Indies to teach enslaved people a pro-slavery version of Christianity!!

  23. Here to bear witness. I attended Pioneer Christian academy in Nashville Tennessee in the 70s. On a United Daughters of the Confederacy scholarship. They did exactly what you have spoken of, used Bible verses and religious teachings to try to justify chattel slavery. Maek of Cain and Son of Ham. Ironically it was the ambiguity that git me wondering wtf, and i was paddled repeatedly for 'questioning the Bible'. Rev Doug Coe of National Prayer Breakfast used to come preach on how it was important we go into politics when we grew up. To 'raise the south'. It is no wonder for profit prisons began at Riverbend in Nashville and Core Civic, the for profit prison corporation, is very invested in the ICE concentration camps too. 13th amendment was a built in loophole, and Satanic Panic was a practice run for the fill the beds, flesh based economy we have now. Theyll holler ,'Satan!' and lip service Jesus Christ to hide the fact they serve Mammon with every vine they cultivate.
