Researchers say there’s evidence that consciousness

Researchers at NYU’s Langone Medical Center have conducted a study of patients who have experienced near-death experiences, and the results are intriguing and chilling. Dr. Sam Parnia, the director of resuscitation research at NYU Langone, joins CBSN to discuss the findings of this mind bending study.

  1. What happens in all the eons before your birth is exactly what happens after your death. You cannot talk about life after death without talking about life before your birth.

  2. I don’ t understand one thing:

The heart srops pumping blood. OK. But the ear stlill resonantes, the light still goes through retina, the nerve cells still give each other the impulses. …Ultil the whole body starts disfunctioning and biologically falling apart…
Eaven thehair an the nails keep on growing for about a week…

  3. My brother was clinically dead for an hour after having cancerous tumors removed from his spine. He spent some time in a coma. Lost the ability to use his legs. Now 4 years later hes standing with a cane and taking steps. No loss of cognitive abilty. Just some memory loss of right before his surgery up until he woke in the hospital. Its amazing how far hes come. Now cancer free.

  4. There are energy frequencies that exist in collective reality of life… humans cannot percieve this as a physical reality with our 5 basic facutlies. This does not mean these "energies'/ frequencies/" dont exist in our human collective present reality.

  5. so the brain isn't what makes us conscious, it just holds the controls for our meat suit.

My mom died when she was 16, dad cheated on her after she had a c-section for my older sister. Heart stopped for 3 minutes. She described being out of her body and saw everything going on in the emergency room (black chalk going down her throat, her mom yelling at my dad and asking strangers for quarters for the pay phone), and then finally the paddles of life were brought out to bring her back.
But she said she felt very calm… and that she could see/feel a warm light. She knew there was more to life than just this… Pretty interesting.

  6. We experience dreams every night as we sleep. Not surprising that we have dreams as the brain is going crazy and often dying. Near death experiences and out of body experiences are always pretty flimsy under real scrutiny. Yes, the observer saw doctors and nurses trying to save their life. You saw that on pretty much every soap opera and ER medical tv show. Not surprising you dream of that.

  7. Could it be that, as one's body dies, their consciousness enters an INFINITE DREAM STATE brought on by DMT? In death, just as in dreams and during psychedelic "trips," time becomes malleable – elastic. One can fall asleep for only a few seconds, yet experience hours or even days worth of dreams. Likewise, at the moment of clinical death (i.e. when the heart stops) massive quantities of DMT are released by the pineal gland, inducing one final dream which never ends and from which one will never awaken – The Infinite Dream State. As we pass this threshold, our entire lives flash before our mind's eye like movies playing at the speed of light – in reverse. A lifetime condensed into a singular moment of realization. Realization of what it was all for and what it was all about. Everything is understood. We remember every thought, every word, every action as well as our true intentions behind each and every one. We stand at the threshold of the infinite and are judged by – and pass judgement on – ourselves. But by a pure, uncorrupted aspect of ourselves as we were when we were small children or babies. This is who/what determines the quality of our afterlife. We ourselves decide our own fate. Who could be a more fair judge of our now past lives than we, ourselves? So, thus, we pass judgement on ourselves and enter a dream of our own making. Many of us were told as children that God is always watching, always listening, and knows what's truly in our hearts and minds at every moment. It is true, as it is through our own eyes and ears that we witness our own deeds and misdeeds! The life of one whose words and actions caused suffering, may end up in a neverending nightmare of anguish and regret. One who truly lived well, exercising kindness and compassion, making balanced decisions, may experience heavenly dreams free from fear or unhappiness.
This theory came to me years ago while in a deep, meditative trance. It was a beautiful late spring night, I was under the influence of psychedelics and had spent hours the preceding dancing to Techno at an event in Detroit.

  8. before we decide what happens after death we needa find out what consiousness actually is. i heard you talk of consiousness as some form of awake pattern, or pattern of working in the brain.

  9. There are several online sources that claim that brain death is "irreversible" even though many medical cases prove otherwise. Why is that? Such sources likely are involved in organ harvesting. There have been cases in which organ harvesters tried to insist on their right to remove organs even when the supposedly dead patient sat up and spoke when being wheeled into an operating room.
BTW, this doctor sounds well meaning but my trust level instantly drops when I hear the term "vegetative state" or "vegetable" when applied to a living human being. This term was invented by a "doctor" in an attempt to dehumanize patients in a coma state so as to rationalize killing them. Anyone who trusts that the medical industrial complex always has their best interest at heart is an ignorant fool.

  10. nothing was validated. you can read it up on wikipedia if you search for his name. he tried to validate by installing plates with symbols that were impossible for the patient to see from his perspective and havent been there before and not a single one, not even his 2% "high memory candidates", had seen that.

  11. NDEs don't prove anything!
There has never been someone who csme back after having been declared brain dead!
Bring me one single patient and then we can talk about conscience after death…
There is no conscience out of the brain!
