  1. Interesting. But apparently some psychologists say we are born to believe in something spiritual it offers some sort of brain soothing and makes people feel good about somethings. Humans are not necessarily rational. Even in Maslow's hierarchy of needs there is a need in which people seek self-actualisation, which involves things to do with spirituality.

  2. This is a time when "spirituality" must be defined within context. Or possibly, with no context whatsoever –
Atheism has nothing to do with spirituality. Nothing but a great void exists with atheism.

  3. Spritual is so called English translation of Sanskrit Word
    " Adhyatm(अध्यात्म) "

the Word Adhyatm frim the 2 sanskrit word

    1. अध्ययन (Adhyan) means Study
    2. Atman (आत्मन) loosely described as self

So the spiritual (Adhyatma) means Study of the self ….. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

  4. while it is true that there were understandings some of our ancestors had, many if not most of them have been relearned or discovered again. this doesn't mean that it's evidence of other dimensional beings beyond our physical world

  5. I don't agree with Matt here if being spiritual doesn't necessarily mean you believe there is something behind existence. instead if it only means you're open to all the possiblities then I don't see where the problem is here. it's much like saying I don't know but I am welling to seek the truth with an absolute openess. however I do agree with Matt if being spiritual entails all sorts of beliefs and preassumptions about existence.

  6. This is what i identified as before i rly fully deconstruct and eventually accept that I'm actually an atheist.
There's still a lot of stigma of the word atheist in my country.

  7. Totally agree on the "that's just semantics" thing. I majored in philosophy in college(yes, seriously), and I quickly realized that so much of philosophy is bogged down, or even completely a problem of, semantics(definitions, usages, the imprecise and imperfect nature of our languages and general ability to get our point across, etc.)
I swear sometimes I feel like 90% of what people refer to as "philosophy", or the arguments and debates that are put forth/go on, the claims made, etc. would disappear completely if we had a "perfect" language, and a way to "perfectly" communicate/articulate what it is one is thinking.

  8. Religious and Spiritual people both believe in God.
However, There are many differences between the two.
    Religion creates wars
    Spirituality creates peace
    Religion is fear based
    Spirituality is fearless
    Religion is consciousness asleep
    Spirituality is awakened              consciousness
    Religion is hypocritical
    Spirituality is transformational
    Religion is defensiveness
    Spirituality is open hearted
    Religion is dogmatic
    Spirituality is wisdom
Religion is Not what Jesus wanted
    Spirituality is LOVE in action

  9. This is such a strong case, I think it should have a lot more exposure! It's so strong, rational, logical, impossible to argue against. I mean come on, this is the kind of raitonality that we should all have for building a better world. Truth and skepticism are king.

  10. THEISTS entertain NO doubt about the existence of God. NONE. ZERO. ZILCH. That is the reference point. That is the yardstick. That is the measure for how you define the ‘THEISTS’ counterpoint, what we call ‘A-THEIST. Anyone who is not a ‘THEIST’ is logically an ‘A-THEIST’.

An AGNOSTIC doesn’t take a position on the existence of God – which means they allow for the possibility that God exists, but also that God does NOT exist – and that second part instantly places them outside the THEIST camp and right into the ATHEIST camp.

The man is right. It’s black or white. It’s in or out. Either your believe or you doubt. You are either a Theist or an Atheist.

  11. "You either believe or you don't". How does implicit bias factor into this? People believe that they don't believe something when they do believe it TO SOME DEGREE. This would seem to indicate that belief isn't binary. What is the transition period between holding a belief and not holding a belief?

  12. 75% of the people on youtube fo not know the difference in any if it.
Its all just religion ir religious to them.
Its frustrating to see the ignorance.
They will argue all day about something they know absolutely nothing about.
Im spiritual but not religious as well. Its all the same yo them.
    Nerve racking…

  13. Dillahunty logic : 'Cell' is a term used for different context, so cells are bullshit.
Numbers are used in different people for different approaches, so numbers are bullshit.

Too bad he just spent half an hour on over generalising and doing Ad Hominem.

  14. Arguing right now with aron ra on a similar subject

He thinks you only have a religion if it falls in line with a form of theism – he said “religion has to have a belief in the supernatural afterlife” and I said “you’re defining religion in such a narrow way to avoid claiming to have one”

He then says “you’re saying my lack of religion is a religion” 😂

No matter how many times I’ve tried explaining to him “a religion isn’t limited to belief in the afterlife” 😅 the egomaniac then says “Taoism doesn’t count because some people say it isn’t a religion” 😂

  15. "Spiritual but not religious" always turn out to be the most insufferable people. They are even worse than the religious folk because they just throw out words like "energy" to mean whatever they want in the moment, and they have a non-concrete belief system that changes every 2 seconds.

  16. i think he miss understands spirituality to be an ideology. its not trying to be that and its not trying to fit the role of one. spirituality simply means any faith or belief you have outside the physical world. that could mean reincarnation or the after life, but the important thing is you dont have to be a part of a religion. if you are not religious, and you have ever considered the after life, you are spiritual. i dont understand why religious people gatekeep spirituality.

  17. I’m an agnostic atheist. I agree with you completely in this talk. You are an excellent communicator and debater. However, I am perplexed with the very real concept of consciousness and mainly my own. How do you explain the qualitative experience of conscious and, if you can, why we are aware.

  18. My idea on this matter is not really so much a belief, but a therapeutic thought process. Sadly cognitive thinking and critical thinking are not enough for some. So many atheists (antheists) I've met online seem to think that emotions have no place in atheists, but that's not reality.

In the wake of healthcare issues in America, my belief in this therapeutic thought helps me be a better person. I've been traumatized by animal t–ting so bad that I have night terrors about it, but knowing there are so many humans (and nonhuman animals alike) that depend on this research, I cannot grapple this cognitively. It is too emotionally charged for me. It would be an illogical, irrational, irresponsible, and unreasonable position for me to not think or hope for a life after death where these animals can get a blissful afterlife, a life they deserve, if that belief/hope enables me to be kind towards people who depend on this research, and it's going to continue despite my best efforts to encourage humane research on these animals.

At the same time however, my belief/hope in this does not mean that I'm willing to dismiss the fact that this is essentially cruelty to animals, and that I'm going to be all "rainbows and smiles" about it either. Most people are one way or the other. Some people use the belief as an excuse to not help because what's the point if it means they'll all move on to a better place anyway so their suffering doesn't really matter. On the other hand you get people who believe this and said belief helps them be motivated to be a better person, to help those who are suffering because logic and critical thinking are not enough.

My hope in a better afterlife and my practices in "communicating" with deceased animals helps me deal with the things I cannot change in a way that doesn't take my health away. In a way that doesn't make me bitter towards those who are suffering from health conditions (which back when I forced myself to let go of this thought process, admittedly did make me so). In addition, this belief of therapeutic thought processing helps me be more involved in issues such as the healthcare system in American being cut for the poor and fighting against it. If it gives one strength to continue on and making the world a better place, there shouldn't be anything wrong with the idea.

  19. I used to be one of those spiritual atheist types and not in the supernatural way. Just that i was seeing nature and everything as connected. I used to get those crystals and tarots.
I stopped with all that as i just saw i was trying to replace religion with something and that using these terms like spiritual was just using a term from other beliefs to have something to follow.

I have met atheists who believe in magic and ghosts and when asking them about it they make the same arguments people use for the existence for gods. I began to see that many atheists are like this. Some wish there was a god.

I don't as if there was such a being, then i don't get how it could allow all the suffering going on in the world. The one in the bible seems like a jerk and i have my bible at home. I read it to get out of that religion. Reading the bible made me question things more.

  20. This whole video was just a bunch of ad hominems and generalizations and strawmans. Also you have zero understanding of the original concepts of the soul and spirituality
