I don't know if you thought about this, but desire is one of the reasons people strive to do ANYTHING. Excess desire is an 'uncureable' side effect that I'm willing to live with if it means I get all the luxuries of humanity's creations. Would Bell have created the phone without desire? Would Gates have started Windows? I don't know Andy.

If people only desired what they need, then how would we have had the great people throughout history who would have done great things that wheren't absolutely nessisary? If you want to know what an anti-desire pill looks like, go watch the film "Equilibrium" with christian bale.

I have a strange feeling that the "Anti-desire Pill" would lead to some sort of hellish dystopia.
He has a point about desire, but I was hoping he'd get to a conclusion based on examining our selves instead of wishing for a pill to make it all go away. True strength and change is found only within. I'd have liked to have seen him challenge us as people to have the strength to resist ourselves, rather than hope for a cure for it…

Dreams are the ultimate source of all disappointment. Desire is the root of all misery. With it, nothing is there but contentment. Dreams and expectations do more harm than good. most never get met. And unrealistic impossible dreams, and setting bars high tend to rub off on others who are more realistic, and they get dragged down again. I agree wholehearted with this.
The NY Daily News and Post were already in color when this was filmed, obviously prior to this video being posted. Crossing eras for myself, I would've thought Andy had retired by the time they switched over.
