  1. "Iceland has declared christianity a health hazard."

So when will the rest of the developing nations declare all religions a proven mental illness that stagnates even the laziest of brains?

  2. Spiritual is something you feel, which has nothing to do with what you believe. You can be spiritual, meaning you often feel one with nature, and it has nothing to do with whether you believe the fairy tales in the Bible.

  3. I agree with the sentiment that many people mean it in the sense that they acknowledge the great complexity of nature etc, but I'm sure there are people who use it in the way the Eggman is saying. Either way jesus lol, "not mincing his words" is and understatement XD

  4. Assholes? Really? The caller is gonna go there just because he doesn't understand it. Just because he probably has a different definition of spiritual than the nonreligious but spiritual crowd, is that it?

  5. Not necessarily true. I'm one of these "not Religious but Spiritual" people and that's because I'm a Pantheist who doesn't really go to a particular church or follow a particular Spiritual belief system. And it's hard for me to be condescending about it since I don't believe in right or wrong either. So it's not like I can be a part of the "moral police" and try and boast about how moral I am.

  6. I'm from the camp that says you're either superstitious or not. End of story. Spiritual still translates as superstitious in my book. I am NOT superstitious. I have no "belief" or "feeling" that certain things exist. Logic is my sole guide. Which is why I "believe" in life beyond earth. Probability is strongly in favor. The universe's language is pure math. With math you have probability. That's where I stand.

  7. And to clarify, we have physical life forms on earth to examine. We have a model which is part of the scientific method. We have lifeforms that live on land, in seas, in molten lava etc. We have models. Unlike sky fairies and spirits. The probability that life exists across the universe is highly likely using logic. Since no model of "god" or the "soul" exists we shouldn't even argue if it exists without a discovery or model to study to begin with. Let's explore reality for what it is.

  8. The Iceland things sounds like satire but if it isn't that is fucked up to say an entire religion is a public health hazard. It is classic fearmongering. If they said that about Islam, people would be screaming bigotry (which they should). Disagreeing with the religion AS AN INDIVIDUAL is one thing-having a state declare it a public health hazard is just a ridiculous exagerration and demagoguery. But again, I doubt this is even true. The only thing I could find on this was some random site and Reddit.

  9. New atheists have to be some of the most boring and unpleasant people out there. I would really like someone to explain to me how declaring ones self as spiritual is inherently an act of condescension, and I thought christians were easily offended. I'm just waiting for the day when Sam Harris or Richard Dawkins tells his followers that drinking chlorine is the key to immortality.
