Fritz Lang directs this moody drama based on the novel by Emile Zola. Glenn Ford is a railroad engineer just back from the war in Korea who gets mixed up with some bad company–namely Gloria Grahame, a married floozy who makes a play for him; and Broderick Crawford, her dangerously jealous husband.

Very good movie. Thanks
I love trains and never knew about this movie…..and it's a good movie
Glenn ford was one of favorite movie stars
How interesting to see actor Edgar Buchanon, (famous later for the cantankerous Uncle Joe on tv's "Petticoat Junction) at the controls of a train, because he routinely criticized the two Hooterville train engineers for their ineptness in "Petticoat Junction".
"you can dead head it back on the #4" love that terminology!
What a boozer! ๐ต๐ฅ๐ฅ
"I don't want my wife working"It really was the 50's!
Those subtitles are really annoying.
Keep subtitles they rbArt
Superbe
Train movie. Worth watching just for the trains. Then there is a bunch of emotional twisted stuff that leads back to the trains. Good acting and direction, locations, but for me it was the trains and train yards. If I watch it again, it will be to see the trains, tunnels, and countryside. What he wanted to get back from Korean war – was to be on the trains and go fishing. The right woman part of the dream was the mistaken part.
These annoying ads suck!!!

Fantastic Film. Thank You.
A much better ending than most of these old movies
Le remake de "La bรชte humaine" avec Jean Gabin โค
Nice , movie ! Love Glenn Ford & Gloria Grahame , great actress! Pretty good movie!
Classic indeed, nice performance by all actors, nice script, screenplay, dialogues, music and above all the director did his job well, almost all the scenes were well built.
Good film!!!!! Really glad Ford did not kill Crawford. Unlike Fred MacMurray in Double Indemnity and Pushover.
Though not a direct transcription, the film takes its inspiration from Emile Zola's Bete Humain, also set in a rail yard with the intensity of the train a metaphor for the "human beast|." The directing here is vintage Lang, master of black and white cinematography.
Shame about the Chinese subtitle.
Fordโs character fell for the wrong girl!!
Ellen was much hotter and had no drama, unlike Vicki.
What a fool.
The sort of film when you came out of the Cinema, the cold air hit you and you were feeling great, Halcyon days What ?
Fritz Lang and a railroad, I'm in.

Gloria certainly was a first class actress. Real talent. Lang used Barbara Stanwyck in another film ( name escapes me ) equally effectively. They are similar in some ways. Broderick Crawford always good. Thx for posting.
Good film seen it before
Some folk's lives are just so sad.
..That sweater is Pretty Tight~!!!๐
Lang was persuaded to make his second remake of a J. Renoir film (the first being Scarlet Street). He hired the magnificent and underrated English screenwriter (and curiously the father of Italian Neorealism) Alfred Hayes, who had already worked with Lang on "Clash by Night". To Lang's surprise, the film received rave reviews in France.
Super film, with super cast. Thank you, CineStream.
That was awesome ๐
Very good movie! Being an old movie buff, I can't believe I'd never seen it before. Movies with Fritz Lang's name attached are usually topnotch. Thanks for the upload.
What a Movie this is! Seen it before but its still worth watching over again.
Just give me train movies or any movie in b/w and l am the happiest woman in the world๐ tks
You can tell this is going to be a great movie after just a couple of minutes.
Stupid movie. Why she desired to die?
cOPYRIHT 1954
I didn't like the movie tbh

She: "What IS there to do ?"
He: "Hmmmm . . . now let me think . . . "
Why did they have Vicki die at the end? She lived a life of being abused and then they kill her off. I liked her.
Thanks for the upload . โค
