He now has ZERO fear of death: “It’s like walking through a door into another room.” Ned shares his NDE experience publicly for the first time.
When a stubborn bladder infection spiraled into sepsis, Ned Barnett flatlined twice in the ER. During his near death experience, he lived three vivid, sequential “lives”:
NDE #1 – Tranquil, dove-gray creative realm where ideas were built and freely shared;
NDE #2 – An ordinary, domestic life that quietly corrected priorities;
NDE #3 – A hyper-real action life as a hostage negotiator and rescue-show producer leading SWAT-style interventions.
On “re-entry,” Ned realized the “hotel” with stark black-and-white ceiling panels was actually the ICU—and his overwhelming drive was simply to call his wife and tell her he was okay.
The NDE completely erased his fear of death, redirected his career toward helping authors, and deepened his Christian faith. He closes with gentle advice for listeners in pain: simple prayers, the Psalms, and the reminder that what we are continues.

This comes nowhere close to the generally astounding NDEs that fill this space.
Good interview
This could be made into a legendary fantasy sci-fi novel.
Love this! My son committed suicide about a year ago and I’ve always felt that he’s in a better place and this experience backs that up!
It's quite normal to have more "gifts of the spirit" after an NDE. Having "psychic" experiences is common.
fake
Another great interview Eric! Keep up the good work.
I wanted to hear about his wife's NDE but you kept interrupting him. 🫠
Haed to believe.
so he instantly became a hostage negotiator in another place? he didnt question how did i get here? where am i? or what happened to the old me? yea, no, i have an open mind but i'm having a hard time with this one.
I don't like that beginning audio on every show… sorry I finally just had to tell you
That's 😂 funny- "I've been married 50 years" but to different ppl
He just tried to advertise his job
it was at that very moment that he discovered the perfect recipe for Chalupa… earning him the prestigious "Aaron Sanchez, Golden Armpit Award"
Definitely a writer
What did you create???
I’ve heard thousands of NDE’s but must say having difficulty with this one on many levels! 🙏
I love that everything he experienced and everywhere he was, he was intent on helping others. That should always be our goal. And the fact that he is close to Jesus and he is changed from his NDE makes it authentic to me. His words are very encouraging, thank you so much for sharing this 💛
I have a question, why would his kidney and heart doctors be treating him in the emergency room? Doctors in the ER are specifically trained for dealing with patients in life threatening circumstances, a specialist however is not specifically trained for that situation. So why would they be in the ER in the first place? You might think maybe a hospital in a smaller city, if so, why would they have two doctors available? Doesn’t add up.
I loved everything about this experience shared. Just wish it would’ve been a few hours longer! Ned, If I can ever have you on as a guest of The goodinthehead Podcast, please reach out to me. 🙌🙏👌
Thank you both!
I'm having trouble with this one. Hostage negotiator? TV host/producer? But they had no phone? Sounds more like a dream, like maybe that's what he wanted to be in life. Life dreams long gone.
This guy likes to hear himself talk..He does alot of talking but not saying anything,a bunch of nonsense hard to comprehend & to pinpiont exactly what he is saying.im sorry but my essesment says <He"s insanly full of shit>
Fascinating. Thank you both, very much.
Boring.____
I agree with many of the comments. This was very hard to follow.
I am sorry but I wonder how long he’s been writing this rubbish story
I appreciate the interview but it felt rushed. For a writer who lived lives for long periods the scenarios are severely lacking detail even when pressed to share more.
